Craft production

Ongoing

In addition to helping grandmothers getting the social grants they are entitled to, we have also given them the opportunity to utilize their hands and create handicrafts.  We offer workshops that teach them and supervise their projects. Beading is a popular craft in the Zulu tradition. We have challenged and encouraged them to create marketable things for the international market. The women have created thousands of beautiful bracelets, key rings and Christmas decorations, among other things.

They have also crafted countless ribbons, which have been purchased by other charities.  We received large orders from the pink ribbon campaign for breast cancer and red ribbons for the HIV campaign.  It created 100s of jobs for mothers and grandmothers and in turn it also generated money for Zulufadder. It was truly a win-win situation.

Our craft program has helped Zulufadder enormously, and has also employed many women in the community.
