Gratton hostel – phase 1

Completed

Gratton School is a semi private school, situated near Eshowe, that we are developing as an education facility for promising children from the Zulufadder project.

Because our children come from rural areas it is essential that we provide boarding facilities. This allows our children to enjoy an uninterrupted school life from Monday to Friday and affords us an opportunity to teach them valuable social skills in addition to their lessons.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors we were able to build a hostel housing up to 45 children, illustrated here, that opened in January 2012.

In 2020 we support 52 children, from grades 1 to 12, at Gratton School and this number increases every year.

In a country where rural education continues to be well below acceptable standards, education must be a primary focus of Zulufadder as we see this as the best and only way to empower our children to become great and successful citizens in the future and able to make meaningful contributions to the upliftment of their own communities.

Thank you very much for helping us build the hostel – and giving more children an opportunity to learn at a great school!
