Gratton school – Agriculture

Ongoing

Gratton School has a dedicated agriculture department complete with a lush vegetable garden, a lively chicken farm and a piggery area – all brought together and run with enthusiasm by teachers and committed students alike. Agriculture is not just a practical subject here, it is also a full-fledged part of the curriculum for upper secondary school.

The wonderful harvest of vegetables from the school’s garden finds its way to the boarding schools’ dining halls, and when the abundance is present, the surplus is sold to support the school’s activities.

We have big ambitions to expand our already lush vegetable garden by adding more greenhouse tunnels. This dual purpose will not only significantly improve the growing conditions, but it will also ensure that our curious monkey friends no longer have unwanted access to the treats 🐒😄

A warm thank you goes out to our dedicated sponsors, whose generous contributions have included everything from necessary agricultural equipment such as disc harrows to the tractor, greenhouse tunnels that provide ideal growing conditions, useful cuttings for further cultivation, and not least, our beautiful pigs and lively chickens that add a extra charm.
