Gratton school – hostels

Ongoing

Hostels at Gratton School

A hostel is more than bunk beds and cupboards. It’s the glow of a night lamp over reading notes, whispered laughter in the hallways, and a safe embrace when the longing for home grows too strong. At Gratton, our children find a new home – close to school, close to friendships, and close to the adults who walk with them through each week.

Why hostels?

For many of our children, family homes are miles away. If they are to have a real chance at education, they need to live at school. Their new home becomes the key to a stable, well-structured school life. Here, routines shape each day – homework, meals, evening calm – and, just as importantly, all the invisible lessons that form a person: sharing, helping, saying sorry, and trying again.

School and support

Daily life always begins with school. After dinner, there’s shared homework time, and those who need extra help receive it. Thanks to a dedicated fundraising campaign, the children have access to both schoolbooks and digital tools like computers and tablets. For those who struggle with math, we offer extra lessons – small steps that make a big difference.

Everyday life and creativity

Once homework is done, there’s time for all the things that make childhood rich: sports and ball games out on the grass, board games and drawing indoors, the sound of knitting needles clicking, and laughter filling the rooms.

Learning in daily life

It isn’t always the big projects that make the difference. Sometimes it’s an extra math class, a swimming lesson in the sun, or a book that touches the heart. Small moments that build confidence – and carry the children forward.

Thank you

Dear sponsor: you are not only giving a bed and a cupboard. You are giving rhythm to daily life, calm to the heart, and faith in tomorrow. And for a child who can finally breathe easy – that means everything.

A heartfelt thank you to our main sponsor NutraQ – the hostels would never have become a reality without you!
