Zulufadder House | Gratton school boarding
In 2012 and 2015, we inaugurated the first two dormitories at Gratton, with approximately 80 young boys and girls residing at the school each year. Many of these students were sponsored by Zulufadder, contributing to filling more than half of the beds. The increasing demand for new students led us to sadly reject many applicants, as we, unfortunately, did not have enough space to accommodate everyone.
However, we have taken steps to address this challenge. In January 2021, in collaboration between Gratton School and Zulufadder, we were finally able to inaugurate a dedicated dormitory for students receiving scholarships to study at Gratton. This new dormitory provides children with a safe and pleasant place to live, offering a range of benefits for their growth and development. Here, they receive assistance with their schoolwork, eat nutritious meals, have time to relax in beautiful surroundings, and have the opportunity to learn how to swim. All communication is conducted in English, allowing the children to naturally and effectively develop their language skills.
The dormitory features rooms with bunk beds, accommodating up to eight students in each room. This arrangement enables them to form strong bonds with their peers, share experiences, and assist each other with their schoolwork.
New Laptops and Tablets
Our founder, Mari Maurstad, initiated a fundraising campaign to ensure that all children have access to their own laptop or tablet.
Life at the dormitory is filled with a lot of schoolwork, cultural activities, current debates, laughter, and singing.
Extra Math Classes
Some of the children struggle with mathematics, and in the autumn of 2023, we have received assistance from a newly graduated math teacher.
Thank you so much for all your support!
