Update September 2025

The youngest students have always had regular books. For the junior and senior high school (grades 8–12), we introduced a period where everyone used their own laptop with e-books. It worked in many ways, but we also saw the downside: chatting with friends and playing games during class – and less and less focus on the subject.

From the 2026 school year, we will therefore return to regular books for these classes. At the same time, PCs will still be available at the school, both in the Tech Center and in the media library, where digital aids really make a difference.

Update June 2024

Thanks to the fantastic support of our sponsors, we have recently upgraded our facilities at Gratton by purchasing projectors and whiteboards for all classrooms in the secondary school. This investment will significantly improve the learning environment, as both teachers and students can now benefit from modern technology in their teaching. The projectors allow for the presentation of multimedia content in an engaging way, and the whiteboards provide flexibility in teaching methods. These tools will contribute to a more dynamic and effective learning experience for both teachers and students at Gratton.

Best in the district

Gratton School is Zulufadder's largest project. The support from our sponsors makes it possible for us to purchase school books for the children in the primary school and subscriptions to e-books for the students in the secondary school every year.

When Zulufadder took over the school in 2010, Gratton was a primary school. In 2015, we began the expansion to secondary school by offering one new grade each year, and in 2019 we had our first students graduate from secondary school. All with 100% passing grades. That result has held up every year since, and we are among the "top 8" schools in the district (which consists of approximately 250 schools).

Gratton now has books in every subject from preschool to high school. In the early years of running the school, the teacher had to write everything on the board and the children had to spend time writing everything down in a notebook.

Budget

The school's annual budget for textbooks, e-books, and other software is approximately NOK 400,000 , of which approximately 50% is covered by school fees, the rest is needed from sponsorship funds to purchase. In addition, we need other teaching materials such as lab equipment, notebooks, etc.
